White Plagnum Culturing Kit (Hardware Only - 16oz Deli Cup Size)

Plagnum style springtail culturing combines the smooth easy-to-harvest-from utility of Springtail Plaster with the incredible surface area of sphagnum moss. Plagnum Culturing Kits leave half of the Springtail Plaster exposed for a harvesting and feeding area while thoroughly containing the sphagnum moss which is the “home base” and egg laying grounds for the springtails. Use alongside our Plaster Retainers and harvesting is as easy as tilting the culture and tapping the springtails out!

This method developed by hobbyist Ben Gruver provides an overall balance between massive springtail production per culture and ease of harvestability. It has quickly become my new favorite way to culture a variety of springtails. To set up a Plagnum culture simply set your wall piece into the deli cup, pour in your plaster mix and let it set, then add your moist sphagnum moss and screw in the top piece.

NOTE: These kits are designed specifically for the dimensions of the 16oz Deli Cups sold at Springtails US. They may not fit snugly into other brands of 16oz deli cups and will likely not work for deli cups of other sizes. This Hardware Only Kit does not include Springtail Plaster, sphagnum moss, deli cups, plaster retainers, or springtails.
