Product Details

A truly arid springtail, they prefer dry ground. Very common in cities and often the first species to colonize freshly disturbed soils. One of the few springtails out in the midst of summer.

-

Entomobrya unostrigata is the best cleanup crew springtail for dry or low humidity enclosures. They have a great appetite and reproduce very fast. They will still require access to a permanently moist area for egg laying and moisture regulation, such as sphagnum moss under the water dish. See the Cleanup Crew Guides for more information: www.springtails.us/cleanup-crew-guides

-

Culture Entomobrya unostrigata on soil with a moisture gradient and high ventilation only. Feed yeast, dry rice, or Springtails US springtail food mixes. See the Care Guides for more information: www.springtails.us/care-guides

-

Current restock schedule: Weekly (usually Tuesday nights).

-

Ships on damp paper towel. See the "Springtail Shipping Methods" section on the FAQ page to learn why I use paper towel and how to transfer them to a culture.

-

This line was originally collected from dry gravel in Illinois by Ryne of Springtails US. Very common in areas of human development. Range/distribution global.

-

Adult size: 3mm

-

Identification: Confirmed based on habitus.

The springtails came alive and healthy! I set up their culture on soil per the arid care guide, and they are doing very well.

These guys are a great arid springtail. More active than some. Ryne always overcounts everything I have ever gotten from him.
