Product Details

This tiny species cannot jump and moves quite slowly. They reproduce very fast and are a proven feeder species for small reptiles/amphibians. T. encarpata are a typical greenhouse springtail spread throughout the world by human activities.

-

This species may appear dead on arrival but in the vast majority of cases they are actually alive and what you are witnessing is their natural behavior; barely ever moving at all and if so then slowly. Please observe your culture carefully to verify movement or the total lack thereof before submitting a DOA report.

-

Thalassaphorura encarpata are a great cleanup crew in moist or high humidity environments, especially small terrariums with sensitive plants. They will mostly stay out of sight within the soil. See the Cleanup Crew Guides for more information: www.springtails.us/cleanup-crew-guides

-

Culture Thalassaphorura encarpata on Springtail clay, soil, or Springtail Plaster. Feed yeast, dry rice, or Springtails US springtail food mixes. See the Care Guides for more information: www.springtails.us/care-guides

-

Current restock schedule: Weekly (usually Tuesday nights).

-

Received WAY more than 100 (too many to count) in a well established clay culture, no DOA, they're doing great to this day

These guys are awesome in my moss prop bins, and seem to be more active on soil than when I keep them on clay. Very prolific!
